Smart Doggy Day Care Handler Level 1

Full Time (40-33 hrs per week)/Part Time (32-24 hrs per week)

Compensation for this position begins at $12.00-$14.00/hr depending on the level of previous animal care experience.

New employees that complete a successful 60-day probationary period earn a $0.25 – $0.50 increase.

We are always interested in adding active, friendly, and hard-working dog lovers to our team!!! New Dog Handlers will be working alongside our veteran crew while supervising dog playgroups, providing obedience and manners training, and keeping the facility clean. We are willing to train new employees in all aspects of their duties, but applicants with dog care or training experience will be given preference over those without.

All applicants should:

  • Have great customer service and communication skills.
  • Be able to solve problems, think on your feet, and reliably follow directions.
  • Enjoy interacting with dogs of all breeds and sizes.
  • Have experience working with dogs and reading basic dog body language.
  • Be comfortable learning to work with groups of 15-20 dogs at a time.
  • Be okay with cleaning up after dog messes routinely throughout the day.
  • Be excited to learn and perform positive, reward-based training methods.
  • Have stamina to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enjoy and plan for working outdoors in all kinds of weather year round.
  • Be able to stand/walk for long periods of time (no sitting in group ever).
  • Must be able to walk quickly and run.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs, run, bend, crouch, and crawl when necessary.
  • Be capable of regular cleaning activities: mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing and more.
  • Have a flexible schedule with availability for 1 to 2 evening shifts a week and 1 or 2 weekend shifts a month.
  • Plan on excellent attendance, even in inclement weather

Smart Doggy Day Care Shift Lead

Full Time

Compensation for this position begins at $13.00-$15.00/hr depending on experience, with the potential for a $0.25-$0.50 pay increase after a 90-day probationary period. See more job perks listed below as well.

Applicants must have at least 6 months of dog handling experience in a professional setting and have at least 1 year of customer service experience.

Applicants will be assisting Bay View Bark’s management team with handling dogs, cleaning the facility, answering phones, making appointments for our customers, and leading staff when management is out of the building.

Applicants must be responsible, sociable, and able to get along with people from a variety of different backgrounds.

Leadership and supervisory experience are desired.

Attendance is an important part of this position. Reliable transportation is a must. Plan on perfect attendance, even during inclement weather.

Basic computer and phone skills are required.

Experience with identifying potential health issues in dogs and canine first aid skills is a plus.

Shift Lead candidates must be able to be mentally and physically present during shifts and able to respond quickly to customer, employee and dog tasks.
